Logo Design for Drew Graves’ YouTube Channel, 2024

A mood board was made by the client with some basic ideas of what they wanted. Inspired by national park logos and including a bear scratching a tree.

My design started as a digital illustration inspired by Cruz Novillo’s work.

Drew liked the rugged style and boldness of my older design work so I decided to use a more handmade way of working. Tried illustrating with a brush pen but I didn’t like the softness.

I decided to go smaller and more graphic and cut into an eraser like lino. Getting enough detail in was quite hard so I used some digital editing after scanning in the design to add more character.

After scanning in and editing the print, effects were added to make the image a block colour and allow space for Drew’s name. Eyes were added to give more character. The font used is Trattatello, stretched out to fill the black space. Print remnants were kept in to add to the ‘ruggedness’ and preserve it’s printed quality.
